miraDry sweat and odor reducing treatments in Baltimore
- Permanent
- Immediate
- Non-surgical
What to expect during treatment
On the day of your miraDry treatment, we follow a precise three-step process:

Numb the area
Local anesthesia is administered to assure maximum comfort during the treatment.

Mark the area
A temporary tattoo is used to mark skin in preparation for treatment.

Treatment
The area is treated with the miraDry thermal energy, eliminating sweat and odor glands in the underarm area.
Because we are a full-service center, many of our patients also inquire about laser hair removal to simplify their grooming routine, although miraDry itself provides a significant reduction in hair growth.

FAQ about miraDry
How long do miraDry results last?
Results are long-lasting because sweat glands do not regenerate after treatment.
Is there any downtime after treatment?
Most patients return to normal activities quickly, though mild swelling may occur.
Does miraDry affect body temperature regulation?
No, underarm sweat glands account for only a small percentage of total body sweating.
Can miraDry help with odor as well?
Yes, reducing sweat also minimizes odor-causing bacteria.
Can I wear deodorant immediately after miraDry treatment?
It’s best to wait a few days before applying deodorant to allow the skin to recover and avoid irritation fully.
Is miraDry safe for all skin types?
Yes, miraDry is generally safe for a wide range of skin types and tones when performed by trained professionals.
Can I exercise after my appointment?
Strenuous physical activity should be avoided for several days to minimize swelling and support proper healing.
How should I prepare for my miraDry appointment?
Patients are often advised to shave the underarm area a few days prior and arrive with clean, product-free skin.
Can miraDry be combined with other cosmetic treatments?
Yes, many patients pair it with other services for enhanced results, depending on their goals and provider recommendations.
What makes miraDry different from Botox for sweating?
Unlike temporary injections, miraDry targets and eliminates sweat glands for longer-lasting results.
Is there an age requirement for miraDry treatment?
Patients should typically be adults or have parental consent, depending on the provider’s policies.
Don’t I need sweat glands?
While your body does need sweat glands to cool itself, your body has 2-4 million sweat glands – only about 2% are found in your underarms. Eliminating this 2% of sweat glands does not affect your body’s ability to cool itself. With miraDry, you will experience the many benefits of reducing sweat in the underarm area, but you will continue to sweat in other areas of your body.
How does it work?
miraDry uses thermal energy to create heat in the area where bothersome sweat and odor glands, as well as hair follicles reside and safely eliminates them.
What results can I expect?
You can expect immediate and lasting results. Once the miraDry treatment eliminates the sweat and odor glands, they’re gone for good. The treatment is clinically proven to have an average of 82% sweat reduction and 89% odor reduction. As with any aesthetic treatment, patient results and experiences may vary.
How many treatments will I need?
You can see results in as little as one treatment. However, as with any aesthetic treatment, your physician will determine the best protocol for your desired results.
How long does it take?
An appointment will generally last about one hour.
Is there any pain or downtime?
Most patients describe the procedure as painless with little to no downtime. Local anesthesia is administered to the underarms prior to the treatment for patient comfort. Most patients return to regular activity (like returning to work) immediately. Exercise is typically resumed within several days. You may experience swelling, numbness, bruising, and sensitivity in the underarm area for several days after treatment.
Is it safe?
Yes, miraDry has been used in over 150,000 treatments worldwide with an excellent safety record. It’s also been cleared by the FDA to dramatically reduce underarm sweat in as little as one appointment.
Are there any side effects?
Some localized soreness or swelling will occur, and typically clear within a few weeks. Some patients have short-term altered sensation in the skin of their underarms or upper arms, which gradually disappears.
How much does it cost?
Pricing can vary depending on the treatment protocol to achieve your desired results and will be discussed during your consultation.
